Product Description

Rail shoulder is cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clips. There are two types of rail shoulders available, the cast-in shoulder and the weld-on shoulder, both of which are used for the fixing of elastic rail clips. The casting shoulders as the embedded part of the railway fastening system are pressed in concrete sleeper and work together with the E clip to fasten the rail.

Cast-in Rail Shoulder

The cast-in shoulder is made by casting from iron, following standards such as GB/T 1348-1988, NF EN 1563, ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502, KS D 4302, GOST 7293, or BS EN 1563. These are semi-embedded parts cast in concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clip to the base plate. Common variations include Single Stem Iron Shoulder for pre-stressed concrete ties and Twin Stem Iron Shoulder for Bi-Block or Twin Block concrete ties.

Weld-on Rail Shoulder

Weld-on shoulders are used where the shoulder is welded onto flat steel plates rather than standard tie plates. Fabricated via hot forging according to AREA standards, these use low or medium carbon steel. They are particularly effective for switch and crossing layouts where vertical rail geometry is required, offering a cost-effective solution for specific positioning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary function of a rail shoulder?
A rail shoulder is a semi-embedded part used to fix elastic rail clips to the base plate or concrete ties, ensuring the stability and fastening of the rail track.
What is the difference between cast-in and weld-on shoulders?
Cast-in shoulders are embedded directly into concrete sleepers during casting, while weld-on shoulders are welded onto flat steel plates or sections, often used in specialized track layouts like switches and crossings.
Which materials are used for cast-in rail shoulders?
They are typically made from ductile iron grades such as QT400-15, QT450-10, and QT500-7, providing excellent tensile strength and durability.
Are these rail shoulders compatible with international standards?
Yes, the products are manufactured to comply with various international standards including GB, ISO, DIN, JIS, and BS EN specifications.
When should a weld-on shoulder be used?
Weld-on shoulders are ideal for locations where custom fabrication is needed, such as steel sleeper sections or where vertical rail geometry dictates a specific layout design.
What is the typical production capacity for these components?
The production facility maintains a high output capacity of approximately 20,000 pieces per day to meet large-scale railway infrastructure demands.
